Limpopo Premier launches Covid-19 Surge Plan

The plan is a practical measure to ensure that a health care team is assigned to every household in the province.

LIMPOPO – The provincial Covid-19 Command Council today launched a community based approach for the eradication of hot spots in the province.
The provincial Covid-19 Surge Plan was launched by the Premier, Chupu Mathabatha, Ledet MEC Thabo Mokone and the Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba at Ngwabe Clinic, in the Nwabe village of the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality in the Sekhukhune District.
This as the district has quickly become the epi-centre of Covid-19 in the province after multiple cases were in the area.
In his address Premier Chupu Mathabatha emphasised that the Skhukhune district only started recording its first cases after the opening of mines in the area.
“The decision to open mines was able to highlight that the virus is in our communities. We are able to contain it because we know that it is there.”
The Corona Surge plan is a practical measure to ensure that every household in the country is assigned to a health care team that will be responsible for ensuring that the households are accounted for medically.
The launch also included the symbolic handover of medical equipment to the professional nurses who will operate as part of the Surge Plan.

The premier and his entourage also took the time to visit a few households in the area to officiate the plan.
