Model helicopters hop, dump and pop during national air show
Model Helicopters South Africa (MHSA) presented a national air show at Area 51 RC Flyers club last Saturday.
POLOKWANE – Model Helicopters South Africa (MHSA) presented a national air show at Area 51 RC Flyers club last Saturday.
Pilots from all over the country attended the show and competed in different categories to test their skills. The categories included bottle dump, Marie biscuit challenge, balloon pop, hop and pop and drag race.
Local model helicopter pilots, Corrie Bothma, Jacques Coetzee, Wynand Pretorius and Jaco van Eden secured a spot in the top three.
According to Pieter Bornman from the Area 51 Flyers Club, the event was attended by more than 130 people.
“The event was a great success and the guys from MHSA said they want to present another air show on September 12 next year,” Bornman said.

Bottle bump:
