4 dead in D4190 crash, police appeals for help to identify deceased

The Police in Apel outside Lebowakgomo appeals to the public to help identify one of four people who died in a two-vehicle collision on the D4190 road earlier this week.

LIMPOPO – The collision between a Ford Ranger and a Toyota Etios happened next to Leporogong (Olifants River, Atok) on Tuesday, 24 March.

“It is alleged that the Ford, with one occupant and Toyota which was carrying four occupants were travelling in opposite direction when they collided,” said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoep in a statement.

The driver of the light delivery vehicle (LDV) sustained minor injuries and three occupants from the light motor vehicle (LMV) died on the scene. The driver from the LMV later died in hospital, Ngoepe added.

The deceased were identified as Lewis Mokwena, Lucas Mokwena and Punga Mokwena, all from Schoonort, Sekhukhune. The fourth deceased has not yet been identified and police urge anyone with information that can assist in the identification of the person, to contact Captain Rasedile at 082 414 2474 or their nearest police station.
