Mitchell House honours sport achievers

Mitchell House hosted their second annual Sports Awards ceremony on Wednesday.

POLOKWANE – Mitchell House hosted their second annual Sports Awards ceremony on Wednesday.

The guest speaker was the Xerox Golden Lions hooker, Robbie Coetzee.

Coetzee told learners and their parents that a professional sportsman’s life is not easy.

He told them how he fell in love with rugby when he saw a Blue Bull jersey at age 10 and knew that was what he wanted to do.

“I had to give up my time with friends to train every day.”

“I started in the lowest school team and worked my way up.”

He currently plays for the Xerox Golden Lions but dreams of becoming a Springbok.

“Every game you set a goal for yourself, you focus on today.”

Learners were awarded for their achievement in different sporting codes.

“The biggest mistake we make is to give up too early,” said Frederick Romijn, the sport director at Mitchell House.
