Schools in Jane Furse ready for upgrades thanks to Cashbuild

Newly built bathrooms, a fresh coat of paint as well as fencing are some of the upgrades that Jane Furse school principals plan to make as a result of winning the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition.

LIMPOPO – Altogether, eight Jane Furse schools each received a Cashbuild building material voucher worth R15 000, presented at the Cashbuild Jane Furse Store Opening Ceremony on 15 June.

The Principal of Letsiri Primary School, M. Pitjadi, said he was very proud that his learners participated.

Their entire school needs to be painted as they haven’t been able to afford paint in the past decade. L. Makgane, Principal of Marota Makgane Primary School, added that they would like to build new bathrooms so that their learners will no longer have to wait in long queues, wasting important classroom time.

The Principal of Marotobale Primary School, M. Matome, said they would like to improve the school’s security by fencing the yard as the current fence is old and worn out.

At the official Cashbuild Jane Furse store opening ceremony held recently, when the building material vouchers totalling R120 000 were presented to all eight schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively.

The Manager’s Choice award was also presented to the overall winner, Collen Manchidi, from Letsiri Primary School. This award was announced on the day and the winner received a stationery pack and a glass trophy. The winner also officially opened the store.
