LIMPOPO – One of the former learners, Phungo Tshirangwana, stated that it is wrong to leave the responsibility of education to the government alone.
These computers will assist the schools in their daily activities and hopefully help improve their computer skills.
“The computers will obviously motivate the learners and we believe other schools will also be motivated to work harder,” said Tshirangwana.
He said technology is the “in-thing” now as it is needed almost everywhere.
“A lack of computer literacy today makes it very difficult for one to get a job,” he said.
He urged the school to utilise the equipment with care and to the best of their abilities.
The Watervaal High School Principal, Richardt Maemu, could not contain his joy.
“We have been looking for a good Samaritan to come to our aid for so long without success, until former learners came to our rescue. We are very excited,” he said happily.
Maemu said the computers would open a whole new world to the learners who would now be able to communicate with the outside world.
“We are always in want but this donation will go a long way in changing the lives of learners and staff for the better, we really lack words to express our gratitude for what the company is doing for us,” he said.
“These people have shown that they care about the future by investing in the young ones who are the leaders of tomorrow, and we are very thankful for that,” he said. “This gift only indicates that they, the former learners, believe in education and our current learners.”
“We are living in a world dominated by digital technology. It has become a must for each school to have a well-equipped computer laboratory,” he concluded.
