New leadership heralds transformation for Limpopo softball

"We bring the most dedicated men and women on board to steer the association forward"

POLOKWANE – Since the election of the new leadership structure of the Limpopo Softball Association (LSA), there have been sweeping changes in a bid to bring much-needed transformation and human resource intensity in the corridors of power.

The strengthening of human resources comes at a critical moment following the ousting of the two-man skeletal leadership that lost the plot at the recent Annual General Meeting that saw the new sheriffs coming to town to shape the affairs of the domestic ballgame.

Incumbent Chairperson, Phuti Lehlezi Kgomo, just announced the appointment of Richard Mamabolo as the federation’s Marketing Manager, Sipho Mthobuka as Head of Technical, and Khomotso Sedutla as an additional member.

The positions of marketing and technical are not contested during elective conferences, according to the constitutions of Softball South Africa (SSA) and LSA.

Kgomo gave the trio of Mamabolo, Mthobuka and Sedutla the thumbs up, saying they will add the much-needed impetus to the provincial association.

“We bring the most dedicated men and women on board to steer the association forward.

“We have a lot of trust in them and hope we will work in tandem going forward to ensure that the game grows by leaps and bounds,” said Kgomo, who is also the Chairperson of the Waterberg Softball Federation.

Although none of the new appointees have ever served in executive leadership positions of LSA, they have jointly committed to reviving the spirit of the game and keep its traditions alive.

Mamabolo, who is the team manager of Blouberg Sweepers, conceded that: “Even though I have never served in leadership structures at provincial level, I am upbeat that I will make a considerable contribution to the association.

“I already have ideas of putting the game in the public domain henceforth with a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy.”

Mthobuka, however, is a well-known umpire in the province and beyond having officiated in major events under the auspices of Softball South Africa.

A teacher by profession, he has always been part of the development agenda in the Mopani regional where he hails from.

Sedutla who, like Mathobuka, hails from Mopani, joins two other female newcomers, Mmakwena Laka and Vatiswa Mhlubulwana, respectively Deputy Chairperson and officer responsible for the women and sports desk.
