Sanganai/Hlangani World Tourism Expo promotes tourism in Lim

LTA spokesperson, Mike Tauatsoala, says the event showcases the widest variety of Africa's best tourism products, and attracts international visitors and media

POLOKWANE – In a calculated bid to promote tourism in the province and to present opportunities for local buyers, the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) will form part of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Zimbabwe from 16 to 19 June.

The ninth annual Tourism Trade Fair is organised by the Zimbabwean Tourism Authority.

LTA spokesperson, Mike Tauatsoala, says the event showcases the widest variety of Africa’s best tourism products, and attracts international visitors and media.

High calibre international buyers, as well as exhibitors have converged on Zimbabwe to showcase their offerings, including exhibitors promoting products and tourist destinations in South Africa, Botswana, Malaysia, China, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Indonesia, India and Italy.

Tauatsoala says: “the expo will target exhibitors, national tourism boards, embassies, international airlines, tourism destinations, leading tour wholesalers, tour operators and travel agents, accommodation providers, car hire and transport operators, suppliers of goods and services to the tourism industry, investors, government ministries and parastatals”.

ZTA regional manager and chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Novuyo Mathonsi, says LOC was formed to ensure the expo is carried out successfully.

“As a region, we came up with LOC to ensure that the return of the world travel tourism expo to Bulawayo goes down without a glitch. We want to encourage all tourism stakeholders in the city to exhibit at the expo and the public to support the initiative,” says Mathonsi.

Mathonsi says LOC offers incentives for women in tourism as well as first time exhibitors who get to exhibit free of charge.
