LSA officials go head to head for top spots

The treasurer position will be contested by Itumeleng Kekana and Tumisho Ntsoane of Mamaolo Rebels

POLOKWANE – The election of the new leadership of Limpopo Softball Association (LSA) will go right down to the wire when the processes unfold in Polokwane tomorrow (Sunday) during the long overdue Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Incumbent chairperson Derrick Mahapa will go head-to-head against chairperson of Waterberg Softball Federation, Phuti Kgomo. Mokgadi Moswatsi will contest for the key administrative position of general secretary with Seshego Raiders’ Lekau Mamabolo.

Mighty Makola, a veteran of the defunct Great North Softball Association leadership, intends to stage a dramatic comeback when he races against lesser-known Mmakwena Laka for the deputy chairperson’s position.

The treasurer position will be contested by Itumeleng Kekana and Tumisho Ntsoane of Mamaolo Rebels.

Thabang Letsoalo is poised to take the development reigns when he competes with Ignatius Nkune.

Two of the province’s prominent umpires, Abram Matemane and Sipho Mthobuka are competing for the position of technical director. The pair have officiated fierce league matches and national tournaments in the past years.

Botlokwa Angles boss Stoki Meela is uncontested in the position of tournaments manager. Vatiswa Mhlubulwana is the only candidate vying for the position of additional member. She earlier revealed her intentions to make women’s voice to be heard in the male-dominated game.

Mhlubulwana is eyeing the position of head of the women’s desk, which is expected to be created after the elections. She is expected to be endorsed for the post by delegates to the AGM.
