‘Satanic’ pastor ordered to close shop

Fuming Mangondi village residents outside Thohoyandou have ordered a well-known Obet Ministries Church pastor to close shop

LIMPOPO – This after the church leader, known as Dr Obet Muyanalo, was accused of practising Satanism.

Muyanalo and his followers were recently chased out of the village while the sermon was ongoing. The church was operating at a community hall in the area.

Speaking to Capricorn Voice, deputy chairperson of Mangondi village Civic Organisation, Sarinah Luvhengo, confirmed that residents had ordered Obet Ministries Church to stop operating in their village as the pastor and his church allegedly practised Satanism.

We are tired of resolving grievances regarding the pastor who is always accused of beating young girls who are allegedly been kept in his church without the approval of their parents. We have also heard that the pastor is practising Satanism acts in the church whereby his congregation is forced to drink human blood.

“We used to protect him as civic organisation, thinking he will stop his bad behaviour but we are now tired,” said Luvhengo.

According to Luvhengo, recently a young member of his church (17) died allegedly under his hands as he claimed he will pray and cure her through his anointed powers.

The traditional leader of Mangodi village, Chief Nndavheleseni Maumela said a meeting with the communities and Obet Ministries was held in his kraal and residents told Muyanalo to vacate the church as soon as possible.

Chief Maumela said as a traditional leader there’s nothing he can do but to listen to the people.

Spokesperson for Obet Ministries, Khakhathi Tshisikule said they were surprised to be summoned in the chief’s kraal, a few days after the death of the young girl, who was a member of the church, and the angry community threatened to burn down the church.

According to Tshisikule, his church is known for deliverance in marriages, pain of women during menstruation and casting away mentally illness.

Tshisikule said they suspect someone might be jealous of them as they have grown as a church and just celebrated five years of existence in March this year.
