UPDATE: 15 people out on bail for torching chief’s home

The 15 people thought to be responsible for torching Chief Masia Mohlala's house in Diphale outside Burgersfort were granted bail of R1 000 each by the Praktiseer Magistrate's Court last Friday

LIMPOPO – Their arrests came after angry residents torched the chief’s house and vehicles in January.

The chief was accused of being involved in the alleged murder of a young girl, Nanikie Morema, who disappeared in December and whose body was later found in the bushes outside Diphale.

The case was postponed to 11 March.

Mecklenburg police Spokesperson, Const Kgalaka Mampuru, said the conditions attached to the granting of bail included that the suspects do not interfere with witnesses or be involved in illegal gatherings.
