Police arrest 6 suspects for murder, armed robbery

The police have arrested six suspects in Maleboho

LIMPOPO – The police arrested six suspects in Maleboho following an incident at Glenfenis village on Thursday.

According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, six armed suspects entered a general dealer on Thursday evening, where they shot and killed two brothers, both in their 70s.

“A third person was shot in the leg and taken to hospital,” said Otto.

The suspects fled in a bakkie that belonged to one of the brothers, which was later found abandoned in the village, said Otto.

“A large manhunt was launched for the suspects and four were arrested on Friday, while two were arrested over the weekend by members of Maleboho crime prevention, detectives and crime intelligence.

“Three 9mm firearms with their serial numbers filed off, as well as ammunition were recovered in the suspects’ possession. The suspects have already been linked to other cases in the area such as stock theft and house robberies. Investigations to link them to even more cases of armed robbery are ongoing,” said Otto.

The suspects will appear in the Bochum magistrate’s court on Monday.
