Limpopo police: 11 arrested so far in Vuwani protests
A total of 11 suspects have been arrested and some stolen property recovered," says provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.
LIMPOPO – Protesters officially began with what they call a “total shutdown” of services in Vuwai and surrounding areas on Sunday. Disgruntled residents, barricaded roads with rocks, burning tyres and rubble and property was damaged.
According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, on Wednesday Public Order Police dispersed the crowds blocking the road between Elim to Vuwani in the Mashau Village area.
“Since last night up till now twelve spaza shops have been broken into and looted. A total of 11 suspects have been arrested and some stolen property recovered,” says Otto.
Public order police are still patrolling and monitoring the situation in the area.
