LIMPOPO – A third suspect which escaped from the Ritavi cells on Monday has been re-arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
“Lazarus Moseamedi was re-arrested in the Tzaneen area this afternoon,” says provincial police spokesperson Col Ronel Otto.
Moseamedi was initially being held for the murder and attempted murder of police officers and several cases of armed robbery.
He was one of the five awaiting trial prisoners which escaped after cutting through the mesh wires in the Ritiavi station excercise room.
The two escapees, Stanley Sipho Nkwana and Rufus Mkhawana were the first to be re-arrested this morning after police received information of their whereabouts.
“Nkwana and Mkhawana were re-arrested on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning in the Nkowankowa area,” said Col Otto earlier today.
On Monday the five awaiting trial prisoners Lazarus Moseamedi, Stanley Sipho Nkwana, Kgomotso Mokhabudi, Rufus Mkhawana and Dumisani Nukiwe Khosa escaped from the Ritavi police station holding cells.Police are still searching for the two remaining escapees namely Kgomotso Mokhabudi and Dumisani Nukiwe Khosa.
