LIMPOPO – LIMPOPO Volleyball Association (LVA) is sending three teams to Wits University in Johannesburg for the annual Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) scheduled for next week.

The IPT, otherwise known as the National Championships, is the biggest tournament on Volleyball South Africa’s (VSA) events calendar. After this event, which features all VSA affiliates, a national team will be selected to represent the country at upcoming international events.

The Limpopo contingent is one chosen from premier sides campaigning in the domestic league.

Some of them are from reigning champions, Kamplits, Eagles, University of Limpopo, Evergreen, Diesel N Dust, Spikers, Killer Aces, Thakgalane, Polokwane, University of Venda, Bull Dogs, Masokolare, Rising Stars and Mphaila.

The men’s team head coach, Masipa ‘Mass’ Mailula, is confident that all the Limpopo teams will represent the province well during the tournament.

“All the players in the junior and senior sides have been getting enough game time during their campaigns in the provincial league. We have made it a point that these players play regularly to sharpen their skills. I don’t have the slightest doubt that the players are both psychologically and physically in good shape,” Mailula said.

“Beating Limpopo is the ultimate aim of every provincial team in South Africa.

“We are well aware of this fact and will treat every game like a cup final. However, as the coaching staff, we have reminded all the players to perform to their utmost ability and represent the province with pride.”
