Water relief in Tzaneen area

LIMPOPO – THE problem of water will be a thing of the past for communities in the Greater Tzaneen Municipal area as the Mopani District Municipality, which is the water authority, has introduced three contractors who will start with the construction and improvement of water infrastructure available in different communities in the eastern part of Tzaneen.

This after the Mopani mayor, Nkakareng Rakgoale introduced the contractors who were appointed to work on the construction and improvement of water infrastructure at Tours Water Scheme, Thabina Water Project and Lephepane Water Scheme.

The three projects will cost the municipality more than R140 million to complete and will be a relief for hundreds of households in the Greater Tzaneen area once completed.

Addressing communities during the introduction of the contractors, Rakgoale called on the community to help ensure the projects are implemented successfully to benefit all people in the area.

“We believe that the projects will create hundreds of job opportunities for the local people,” Rakgoale said.

The companies were tasked with the responsibility to refurbish the reservoirs, boreholes, bulk pipelines and to set-up new water plants in some of the areas.

According to one of the contractors, Kwena Mokone, they were willing to work hard to ensure their work was completed within the stipulated timeframe.
