LIMPOPO – THOVHELE Kennedy Tshivhase, a senior traditional leader in the Vhembe district, has described the late chief Ratshalingwa Ramugondo of Ngudza village as a hard worker and dedicated to the community.

Ramugondo was laid to rest on Friday.

He recently passed away at Mediclinic Limpopo after a short illness.

“I am saddened the most by the passing of Ramugondo, who kept an eye on things when I was not there. He worked very hard to serve the communities of Ngudza, in particular, Tshivhase,” said Tshivhase.

As is custom when a chief is installed or buried, the tshikona dance formed part of funeral proceedings.

Nnditsheni Ramugondo, who read the obituary, said Ramugondo was installed in 1986, succeeding his father, chief Mmbulaheni Ramugondo.

He said Ramugondo was the chairperson of the Tshivhase Tribal Council under the leadership of Tshivhase for almost 30 years.

The Thulamela mayor, Grace Mahosi described Ramugondo as one of the traditional leaders who had a vision to serve communities for the better.

“We saw his wisdom and visionary leadership skills when he served in many committees in the municipality such as the moral regeneration programme. He advises us on development projects and programmes affecting his communities.”

It was announced that Raamano Ramugondo will act as chief of Ngudza village until a new chief is installed.
