Lim police: 2 suspects back in custody after escape

2 men are back in custody after five prisoners awaiting trial escaped on Tuesday while being escorted from the Malalmulele court to a waiting police vehicle.

LIMPOPO -2 men are back in custody after five prisoners awaiting trial escaped on Tuesday while being escorted from the Malalmulele court to a waiting police vehicle.

According to previous information an inmate overpowered a police official while being escorted from the court and stole the waiting state vehicle.

A sixth prisoner who attempted to escape was arrested immediately and taken into back to the holding cells said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned 25km from the scene at Tovhohane village, west of Malamulele.

Bernard Ndove one of five who escaped custody handed himself over at the Malamulele police station on Tuesday evening.

Ndove is currently facing a charge of murder in Malamulele.

The search for Daviel Madala Mhlongo a suspect from Ritavi, Cliff Sithole, Lucas Siweya, Manuel Thembi Simango continued this morning.

The four prisoners are currently facing charges ranging from murder, theft and assault.

The circumstances surrounding the escape are under investigation.
