First ever female president for Sapa Yopa

Thulisile Tilly the Great Buthelezi will take over from Lesiba Les-Boogie Chuene, who took the helm from 2018.

POLOKWANE – For the first time in its history, the Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club will be led by a female president. Elected at the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Elephant Springs in Bela-Bela on Saturday, Thulisile Tilly the Great Buthelezi was elected ahead of Pico Santana Martins and Teboho Might T Ngobeni for the coveted spot. Thulisile will take over from Lesiba Les-Boogie Chuene, who took the helm from 2018.

Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club’s first female President, Thulisile “Tilly the Great” Buthelezi stands between former presidents, Lesiba “Les-Boogie” Chuene and Johz “Captain DyHard” Mamabolo.

In her acceptance speech, Thulisile said she was honoured to become the club’s first female president and to lead the biggest motorcycle club in Africa.

“As a biker, there is nothing more important than brotherhood. Sapa Yopa is a very big brand and there is much to be done and rectified,” she said.

“Putting family first has helped Sapa Yopa grow even stronger and we are able to conquer any challenges faced through God who strengthens us.”

Thulisile added that the club is looking forward to building relationships, sharing and learning with and from each other when making plans for the future.

“We are living our dreams of cultural diversity with a membership that includes blacks, Indians, coloureds and whites,” she added.

Asked about Sapa Yopa’s future plans, Buthelezi told BONUS that she hopes the club increases its branding through offices and embroidery machines so that they are able to sell merchandise.

“As the biggest motorcycle club in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, we make sure that our members are honoured for their generous contributions to the team,” she said.

Outgoing president, Les-Boogie, welcomed Thulisile and wished her all the best in ‘the hot seat’ and hopes she will lead the team to even greater heights.

“We will always have your back so that we keep Sapa Yopa alive,” he said.
