Cyril Ramaphosa’s restraint in parliament is exemplary

In Parliament on Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa brilliantly proved that he is indeed a towering father of the nation.

In the midst of crippling economic hardships and adversity, our President is there to offer us faith, hope and resilience. When the anarchic EFF MPs tried to disrupt Ramaphosa’s State of The Nation Address (Sona) in parliament, he elegantly kept quiet and preserved his eminent dignity. An hour-long jamboree of brazen anarchy, sponsored by the EFF, dismally failed to stop the President’s speech. In that stupendous moment of unmatched mischief, the president maintained his divine humility and integrity. It seems Ramaphosa subscribes to this pearl of wisdom: “Never try to wrestle with a pig in the mud.” A week after Sona, a rapacious altercation flared up between two super-anarchists, ANC MP, Boy Mamabolo and the EFF’s, Julius Malema. Personally, I have closely known both Malema and Mamabolo for many revolutionary years and I can attest that Malema’s raucous anarchy does not march Mamabolo’s extremist radicalism and fiery militancy. While standing in close proximity to president Ramaphosa, Boy Mamabolo fiercely charged that “Malema is physically abusing his wife, Mantwa”. The fiery Mamabolo forcelly quizzed Malema: “Hey chief, is it true that you’re abusing your wife there at home?” Desperately furious and emotional, Juju tried in vain to ignore that question, but the fire-spitting Mamabolo kept charging and demanding a direct reply from Malema. Cornered and embattled, Malema finally responded by denying the accusation. The mischievous Juju then charged that Ramaphosa used to abuse his late wife, Nomazizi. Ranting and howling like an inebriated hothead, Malema repeatedly insulted and defamed the President. In that anarchic moment of madness, the President chose to preserve his eminent dignity. The following day in Parliament, Ramaphosa delivered the most awe-inspiring speech of his presidency. Like a true living father of the nation, he embraced all our fears, hopes and aspirations. So miraculously, the President apologized to an anarchic man (Malema) who actually insulted and defamed him (Ramaphosa) a day before. He apologized to Juju for the pain he suffered when Mamabolo accused him of abusing his wife. Only a person of great eminence and divine wisdom can do what Ramaphosa did in Parliament.
