Andries offers practical experience to N6 learners

Andries Mogale has noted with concern that the majority of TVET colleges do not offer learners practical experience but only theoretical knowledge

POLOKWANE – MOTOR mechanic, panel beater and welder from Nobody, Andries Mogale says he wants to offer N6 trade learners an opportunity to get practical experience.

Noting with concern that the majority of TVET colleges do not offer learners practical experience but only theoretical knowledge, Andries says the field does not mean anything if one cannot put what they have learnt into practice. With over 20 years of experience up his sleeve, Andries told BONUS that people are starving with qualifications in their hands but do not know how to do the work they spent time studying.

“When I started out, I was employed at a workshop but being an inquisitive person, I decided to get a formal education. There were things I wanted to know and I realised going to school would be the best option.”

After completing his studies, Andries obtained a trade certificate at Germiston Imperial, but decided to practice at home.

“I want to block the narrative that students think money can only be made in Gauteng because money is made where you work for it.”

Andries says he is ready to take in 10 N6 trade learners for practical experience over a 12-month period, but says he unfortunately will not be able to offer any incentives or accommodation for them.

“It would be great if I can get funding to grow this initiative as I will then be able to better equip myself and teach more. I plan on growing the project by getting a proper building for the different trades, more equipment and tools needed for specialist work,” he said. Interested learners as well as possible people who can finance are encouraged to contact Andries at andrewmogale06@gmail.com or call him at 076 467 1887.
