Polokwane woman arrested for murder conspiracy out on bail

She was arrested for reportedly conspiring to have her husband murdered.

POLOKWANE – A 49-year-old woman who allegedly conspired to have her husband killed was released on R2 000 bail on Monday. She appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed to 7 April for further investigation. The woman who allegedly commissioned the help of three persons to carry out the murder, was arrested on Thursday, 30 January at her home in Polokwane. Hawks Spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke says investigations into finding the three men are still ongoing.

POLOKWANE – Members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) in Polokwane arrested a 49-year-old woman at her home in the city for reportedly conspiring to have her husband murdered.

The arrest was made last week Thursday and according to Hawks Spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke the woman, who cannot be named until she has pleaded in court, allegedly experienced marital problems and commissioned the help of three persons to carry out the murder. Maluleke says it was through the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation, that her plans were uncovered and a plan was put into action.

“The Hawks have eyes and ears everywhere, and we are glad we could put a stop to her plans.”

An interim investigation found that the woman, who is an employee at the local airport, is married to a prominent businessman and the two were seemingly considering divorce, he confirmed. “Three hit men were hired to kill the husband in exchange for a large sum of money. There are plans that have been put into place in order to find and apprehend the co-conspirators.”

The woman appeared in the local magistrate’s court last Friday, and was remanded in custody until Monday, 10 February, when she will apply for bail.
