Standing out is nothing new for Maribe Mamabolo
Maribe's fashion choices are inspired by everyday life and he shares that a major contributor to what he wears is his mood and his daily appointments.
POLOKWANE – Having been in the fashion industry since 2007, the fashion designer and owner of Peretla Fashion says in order to stay relevant, he pays special attention to what he wears, always focuses on his strong points and sticks to what he knows best.
Maribe’s fashion choices are inspired by everyday life and he shares that a major contributor to what he wears is his mood and his daily appointments.
“I plan my outfits according to the clients I will meet on the day.”
He believes that putting together a standout outfit need not take its toll on a your wallet.
“There is nothing wrong with buying at affordable retail stores, who knows you might even set a new trend. What I would advise against is shopping at one retail store from head to toe. Mix it up with a signature piece to make the outfit look different,” he said.
To complete his look, Maribe focuses on accessories and will always wear a stylish watch and a slim leather belt.
He also isn’t opposed to a chain but he prefers to keep it small and simple, not the outrageous big chains that look tacky.
He also wears African-inspired wristbands that are not too loud, but can also make a statement and when the occasion is fitting, Maribe completes his look with a nice bag for men.
When it comes to makeup, Maribe prefers to keep it clean and simple and doesn’t use makeup.
“The natural look definitely does it for me. If I were to say I use cosmetics, it would be moisturiser. I have worn makeup once though, and it was for a runway show,” he added.
He believes that every man needs to invest in a jacket, a white formal shirt and a black shirt because they are a base to complete an outfit for any occasion.
“As a fashion designer, people always expect you to look exceptional, even on a ‘normal’ day. This however is not really a problem because looking good is part of my daily life. Never look average,” he concluded.
