On Tuesday striking South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) members closed down the centre and visitors to the department were told to leave the premises, as no services could be rendered. The members protested against the appointment of general workers within the municipality, claiming nepotism by the Polokwane Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng.
