Yummy home-made snacks to fill little tummies
With the holidays upon us, parents have a daily task of keeping their little ones stomachs happy. Although this may be a task and a half, Taste of Home has a wide range of easy-to-make recipes that your children will love and can even make themselves.
Chocolate chip and peanut butter banana bread
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips
- 4 slices whole wheat bread
- 1 medium banana, thinly sliced
Mix peanut butter, honey and cinnamon; stir in chocolate chips. Spread over bread. Layer two bread slices with banana slices; top with remaining bread. If desired, cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
For those hot days, there is an easy snack that can cool your kids dowen, and requires little to no effort whatsoever. The ingredients can be switched up for your child’s desired taste.
Frozen Banana Cereal Pops
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of strawberry yoghurt
- 2 cups crushed fruit loops and any other cereal of choice
- 4 bananas, peeled and cut crosswise in half
- 8 wooden pop sticks
Place yogurt and cereal in separate shallow bowls. Insert pop sticks through cut side of bananas. Dip bananas in yogurt, then roll in cereal to coat. Transfer to waxed paper-lined baking sheets.
Freeze until firm, about 1 hour. Transfer to airtight freezer containers; seal containers and return pops to freezer.
