LIMPOPO – The Barcelona Annual Extravaganza festival (BAE Festival) is set for 28 December. This is an idea created with the aim to offer the youth from Limpopo an opportunity to gain experience in the event organising and marketing field. This while also producing a quality entertainment space which is the first of its magnitude in Louis Trichardt.

Festival Director, Khutso Selete says BAE is an opportunity to get people to work together to pull of something they can call their own. Khutso says although BAE was not started in Louis Trichardt, it is has surpassed the expectations of people in the area. He says the festival has sold a little under 1 000 tickets with more than 20 days to go until the event. Khutso says BAE has employed over 70 young people from all around the province and is set to add to the number closer to the date. BAE festival’s activation have been taking place over the past few weeks and will continue until the actual event.

The activation is a good platform for the employed marketing team to show their capabilities while learning the tricks of the trade. One of these recently took place at the renovated Makhado Crossing where some of the artists on the lineup got an opportunity to show the crowd what to expect at the festival. Khutso says as much as the lineup includes headline acts such as Makhadzi, King Monada, Emtee, Zodwa wa Bantu and other national acts, it is local friendly as there is an abundance of local artists who will be given the stage to show the community what they have.

Austin Lindelani hands out BAE festival flyers at the Makhado Crossing activation during the official relaunch of the mall.

These local artists include Yellow, Gucci de Ruthless and Chris bang. Khutso says apart from remunerating all the employees, the plan is to use a part of the profits to supply school shoes to several rural schools in the community who are in need. He says early bird tickets for the festival have been sold out but those interested in BAE can get pre-sold tickets at Computicket for R150 general and R650 for VIP.

Khutso says the plan is to have the festival in all provinces across the county on an annual basis. He says that this will help spread help to other areas. Khutso finished off by saying that BAE has been guaranteed to be an experience like no other. He says that they have worked out security features to the dot, working along with law enforcement agencies and various security companies and medical service providers to ensure the safety of everyone.
