LIMPOPO – The tracking team from the Tzaneen Police, assisted by a local security company on Wednesday, 6 November, recovered a suspected stolen vehicle in Nkowankowa. A 39-year-old man was also arrested after he attempted to flee the scene.
According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the team received information about the vehicle’s location from an Air Tracker. They followed up and on arrival at the location they found the said vehicle, a white Mercedes Benz Sprinter, parked in a fenced yard. Further investigations led to the apprehension of the man. He had attempted to jump through the window to evade arrest and broke his knee. The vehicle was confiscated and the injured man was taken to a hospital where he is being held under police guard, added Mojapelo.
The origin of the recovered vehicle is still being determined through the ongoing police investigations. A case of possession of suspected stolen property was opened at the Ritavi Police Station.
The man is expected to appear in the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court soon.
