Rock your short hair this summer

If you're a person that doesn't sit well with extreme heat, going short is the way to go

POLOKWANE – It’s that time of the year again: get out those thin-layered clothes or short skirts, pants or dresses. But when it comes to hairstyles in the summer, hair and make-up stylist, and owner of Trendy Beauty Salon, Minkie Molepo says one can get extremely hot with long hair.

“If you’re a person that doesn’t sit well with extreme heat, going short is the way to go, whether it’s a boy cut, Halle Berry bob-cut hairstyle or the pixie hairstyle, bald, or cheek-bone-length haircut, as long as it does not go over your neck, you should do well in the heat,” she said.

With the arrival of summer, and the perspiration levels picking up, thoughts of getting rid of those luscious locks are abound.

“The pixie hairstyle (bob), is a great option for petite-shaped faces, cheek or neck length hairstyles are especially great for girls who love to go to the beach or pool, since it’s a ‘wash and go style,” she added.

Super layered bob-cut hairstyles give hair instant texture and don’t require a lot of maintenance other than a little hair spray, she said.

“Short bangs or fringe hairstyles will also hold in summer if you have a heart or oval shape face. Consider adding a full fringe. This is the easiest way to ‘spice up’ an already short do. The best way to style it in the heat is to take a flat brush and blow-dry your bangs back and forth then spray an anti-humidity spray, and you’re good to go,” she added.

“With boy-cut, you don’t have to worry about looking boyish when you can put a beautiful face-beat of make-up to go along with it, and your’e ready to start the day.”

The best thing about the boy-cut? It sure saves a lot of money, and it easily maintainable, she added.
