Repairs to Olifantspoort Plant completed, reservoir levels remain low

The Polokwane Municipality says municipal reservoirs are at their lowest with Ebenezer pumping 76l/s and Olifantspoort not pumping as per this morning's readings.

POLOKWANE – Water sources in the city have not improved due to a number of stoppages and inconsistent supply from Lepelle Northern Water from both Ebenezer and Olifantspoort Plants, says the Polokwane Municipality.

Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says Ebenezer was affected by loadshedding this morning and yesterday, affecting supply to Polokwane.

Yesterday, the city’s water supply was affected due to a pipe burst on Specon pipeline and Selala says repairs were finalised early this morning and the Olifantspoort plant is still busy filling the line.

“Municipal reservoirs are at their lowermost with Ebenezer pumping 76 litres per second and Olifantspoort not pumping as per this morning’s readings,” he said.

“It is for this reason that the Municipality urges all areas receiving supply to use water sparingly. Tankers will be deployed to all affected areas,” his statement concluded.
