Dennilton man (45) arrested in possession of 22 rifles and 563 rounds of live ammunition

Preliminary investigations have revealed that a recovered hunting rifle was stolen in Pretoria North in March. 

LIMPOPO – The origin of unlicensed firearms and ammunition recovered during the arrest of a 45-year-old man is still being determined through ongoing investigations, says Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoeoe.

The man was recently arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at his home in Lesehleng Ntwane Village, in the Dennilton policing area. His arrest formed part of an intelligence-driven operation during Operation Swara Tsotsi which saw 8 275 arrests made over the past two months.

“Police recovered 22 rifles, 563 rounds of live ammunition, a shotgun, two balaclavas, hunting clothes and a hunting rifle. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the hunting rifle was stolen in Pretoria North in March,” Ngoepe’s statement read. 

He added that the firearm was linked to cases of pointing of a firearm as well as malicious damage to property in the Dennilton policing area.
