Robbery accused killed in police shoot-out outside Groblersdal

A person was shot and killed and another arrested during a joint operation conducted in the Marble Hall Policing area on Monday, 23 September.

LIMPOPO – The operation comprised of members from the Crime Intelligence Unit, the Tracking Team and the Saps Air-wing Unit, and was activated shortly after a group of armed criminals robbed a local filling station earlier today.

The remaining people disappeared on foot into the nearby farm areas.

During the operation the police seized a VW Polo Vivo, one rifle, a 9mm pistol and an  undisclosed amount of cash believed to be some which was robbed during the incident. Investigations revealed that the VW was  reported stolen at Lehlabile in the North West, added Ngoepe.

A manhunt for the remaining fugitives is still underway and the police urge anyone with information that can lead to their arrests, to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501. Alternatively contact the crime stop number at 0860010111 or the nearest police station.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba applauded the team for their swift reaction which resulted in this milestone achievement and warned those who still perpetrate these type of crimes, that they will be dealt with mercilessly and without compromise.
