Hustlers movie: ‘what is done in darkness will eventually come to light’

If you are looking for something to do with the girls this Heritage Day, then Hustlers, the movie is the way to go.

POLOKWANE – Hustlers was first screened nationwide on 11 September, during the girlfriends getaway promotion. Review was one of the lucky moviegoers at Ster Kinekor, Mall of the North.

The movie has since gotten rave reviews on social media and has been labeled as one of the most iconic movies of 2019.

The plot follows the life of a group of girls who make ends meet by working as strippers. Destiny’s (Constance Wu) life changes after she befriends Ramona (Jennifer Lopez) who convinces her to work as a stripper at the club. Ramona takes destiny under her wings, shows her all the tricks of the trade on how to make stacks of money and in no time Destiny is living a lavish life. Things however takes a turn for the worse during the 2008 Wall Street economic downturn, and when the girls can no longer afford their lavish lifestyles, they devise a plan on how to make money illegally which involves spiking the drinks of their clients. The movie also includes a brief appearance by rapper, Cardi B who brings her larger than life personality.

Review’s take on the movie: “This movie is definitely one that can be watched a couple of times over, because it brings to the spotlight the hardships the strippers went through before they considered a life of crime. With that being said, the movie also shows that whatever is done in darkness will eventually come to light.”
