Magic of movies now in Giyani

The Managing Executive of Nu Metro, Nitesh Matai, said that this would boost tourism and economic development of the Greater Giyani Municipality.

LIMPOPO – The official opening of a Nu Metro cinema at Masingita Mall in Giyani took place on Thursday, 29 August.

Timothy Phiri, the Executive Manager of Masingita Group of Companies, which owns the mall, said that the cinema was not the first economic investment that the group brought to Giyani.

“There is a four billion Rand cash injection to build a private hospital, fully subsidised housing units, offices for both governmental and private sector, a motor dealership and state-of-the-art hotel in Kremetart,” he explained. He added that the group already secured the land for these developments.

“Another reason why I’m here is because I need to negotiate the dates in which we are going to start these developments. The trees that you see now adjacent to the mall would be replaced with a new private hospital which you will be able to access by 29 August next year,” he said.

The Managing Executive of Nu Metro, Nitesh Matai, said this is the first time that the company built a cinema in a township.

He said that this would boost tourism and economic development of the Greater Giyani Municipality.

“One of our prime visions for the past few years was to bring the best quality cinema experiences to areas which have never had access to such facilities,” Matai said.

He added that the company has also taken into consideration the economic factors relevant to the community of Giyani, hence their pricing was low at R39 a movie ticket.

“This price freeze for Giyani is less than half the price of regular movie tickets at other cinemas, and also one of the cheapest movie ticket prices in South Africa,” he continued. He said this is because Nu Metro wants everyone to be able to experience and enjoy the magic of the latest movies at a lower cost while creating job opportunities for the locals.

“The lower ticket prices does not however mean that the Nu Metro here would be a budget cinema,” he warned. Matai explained that the cinema does not compromise anything that would make it feel less of an experience compared to other cinemas in big cities.

“We maintained the normal standards of all Nu Metro cinemas in the country. We put in the best in big screens and superior projection technology, Dolby Digital surround sound, the latest venue and cinema design, comfortable seating as well as convenient counters so you can enjoy the best of what cinema can offer,” he said.
