[INFOGRAPHIC] Do you know what your blood type is?
At the recent SANBS Donor Awards at Fusion Boutique Hotel, Ipeleng Thetela explained the different blood groups and who they can donate to.
POLOKWANE – Ipeleng, a Blood Donation Officer, says it is important to donate blood to be able to save the lives of those in need. “There is a shortage of blood for patients in need and every drop of blood donated goes to saving a life.”
Ipeleng says the AB blood group is the most scarce and mentioned that the positive blood groups can only donate or receive from positive blood groups, and negatives with negatives.

She says you can find out what blood type you are just before donating at the blood centre or during one of the community outreach programs that SANBS hosts. These include visits to schools, malls, and also during special events.
