LIMPOPO – The Acting Provincial Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala, has condemned the killing of 11-year-old, Thandi Mampane at Ga-Marishane village in the Nebo Policing area, outside Groblersdal.
Mampane left home for school on Thursday, 5 September and never returned home. She was reported missing and her body was found in bushes near the village during a search operation on Friday, 6 September.
“The cause of death is not clear at this stage but ongoing police investigations will tell. Suspicion and allegations that she might have been raped before she was killed, will be confirmed by a post mortem examination, still to be conducted,” said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
Police are requesting Bheka Rapolai to avail himself at the Nebo Police Station or to the nearest station to assist with investigations in this matter.
“Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect/s involved in this matter may contact Detective Warrant Officer Ernest Mogawane at 082 348 7949/013 264 0005; the crime stop number 0860010111 or the nearest police station,” Ngoepe’s statement concluded.
