Smooth running, less water shortages following project completion in Flora Park and Serala View

Water problems experienced in the Flora Park and Serala View areas seem to be coming to an end since the completion of several bulk water projects by the municipality.

POLOKWANE – The project entailed a booster pump that had been contracted for the supply of water, with an 80-metre borehole.

The project also houses a chlorine gas dosage pump for the purification of the water from the borehole before supply to the different households in the area. One of the Project Managers, Eddie Snyman told Bonus it has been a month since the project was completed and that the water has been tested after the purification process.

“Everything is running smoothly and no water shortages have been experienced, except for the area where the asbestos pipes still have to be replaced.”

Equipment has been set to pump water to the area between 16:00 and 22:00 daily to ensure sufficient supply. “During peak hours when everybody is taking a bath, cooking or washing the dishes, the system will pick up demand and pumping will be done between 04:00 and 14:00.”

He says the equipment has been programmed to measure the flow of water and it thus automatically pumps water on demand.

“There is a separate water pump station that caters for Marshall Street and the Ivy Park area. The other pump-station works in the same manner,” he said.
