LIMPOPO – Limpopo police have welcomed the sentencing of Themba Ndlovu (40) to five years imprisonment for being in posession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition by the Lenyenye Regional Court, outside Tzaneen, reports police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
On 1 November 2017, police received information about three male suspects that were intending to poach rhinos on a farm near Hoedspruit.

“Police reacted swiftly and nabbed the trio while attempting to jump the fence to the farm, however, one suspect managed to run away into the darkness. The arrested suspects were found in posession of a 375 rifle with a silencer, six rounds of live ammunition, an axe and a knife,” Ngoepe explained.
He added that one suspect sustained injuries during the arrest and has since passed away.
“Themba Ndlovu remained in police custody until his sentencing because he did not have relevant identity documents to be in the country,” Ngoepe’s statement concluded.
