Suspect arrested after woman (81) and her son (61) were attacked on a farm along the Vivo Road

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the other four suspects are still on the run but that a manhunt is underway

LIMPOPO – A 29-year-old man is expected to appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court, soon, after he was arrested in the Tshikota location, outside Makhado on Monday, 27 May, in connection with a farm attack along the Vivo Road.

The suspect was arrested during an intelligence-led, joint tactical operation following a house robbery which occurred during a farm attack incident outside Makhado, along the Vivo road on Monday morning, 27 May.

In a statement released, police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that an 81-year-old woman and her 61-year-old son were attacked by five unknown suspects on their farm and that during the incident, the suspects robbed the victims of cash and an air rifle before fleeing the scene.

“Both victims sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. Police responded swiftly and the tracks of the suspects were followed, resulting in the arrest of one of them. The other four suspects are still on the the run but a manhunt is underway,” Ngoepe said.

He added that the suspect will appear on charges of house robbery and two counts of attempted murder.
