Majority of the traffic is currently making its way to Moria for the annual Moria Zion City pilgrimage and the MEC for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo, Makoma Makhurupetje says traffic officers have been working throughout the night to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
“We are warning motorists that the R71 will have high traffic volumes and congestion. We are urging motorists coming from Tzaneen and Mpumalanga side to use the R81 as the R71 will be congested,” she said.
On the N1 northbound towards Polokwane, traffic remains heavily congested, especially towards toll gates such as the Carousel and Kranskop.
As at 11:30, Bakwena Platinum noted 2 081 vehicles passing through the Carousel Toll Plaza.
