±1500 Polokwane customers without power due to cable theft, says Eskom

Over 1 500 Eskom customers were left without electricity supply following cable theft incident at the Zundput Substation last night.

POLOKWANE –  In a statement released by the Polokwane Municpality, spokesperson Thipa Selala, says the vandalism of the substation on Wednesday night, has left the ZMF, ZZ and AAL feeders off.

“The Dalmada, Kotishing, areas opposite the mall including Northern Academy are currently without supply.”

According to statement issued by Eskom the Limpopo Operating Unit has since last year seen a rise in cable theft at substations throughout the province and appeals to customers and stakeholders in general, to assist by reporting criminal activity to the infrastructure, to Crime line Sms number 32211 or to Eskom on 0860037566.

“No estimated restoration time has been determined as yet as our technical maintenance team is busy assessing the damage so that they can start working on replacing the damaged infrastructure for supply to be restored.” says Eskom.
