POLOWKANE – Water supply will be shutdown on corner Devenish and General Joubert Streets in the CBD on Thursday, 11 April.

In a statement released, municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selela says a contractor wants to work on the replacement of the aging asbestos cement (AC) pipes with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) on the day. “This is one of the Polokwane Municipality’s key projects in its Intergrated Development Plan to enable its Smart City Vision and reduce water losses,” he explained.
The shutdown will affect water supply to Nirvana and Westenburg and the municipality says they will deploy water tankers to affected areas during the shutdown.
“Areas receiving water are urged to use water sparingly to avoid shortages in other areas. Motorisits are also urged to utilize alternative routes in this regard and exercise patience,” Selela said.
