Muddy water and electricity issues to result in more water shortages for Polokwane

Water supply to areas within Polokwane have been negatively impacted due to challenges faced by Lepelle Northern Water as the main supplier of water, says the Municipality.

POLOKWANE – Both the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort plants were running at 0% flow on Saturday, 6 April and as a result, Lepelle Northern Water stopped water supply to Polokwane Municipality from the Olifantspoort plant due to muddy water while Ebenezer plant experienced electricity challenges since Friday, 5 April, due to bad weather.

For that reason, Lepelle Northern Water was not able to pump water to Polokwane, says municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selela.

“Olifantspoort is now reported to be running at full capacity and the municipality will continue to supply water to affected areas through water tankers as a temporary relief measure,” Selela said.

All areas of supply are affected and areas receiving water are urged use water sparingly.
