LIMPOPO – The fight against illegal hunting and illegal possession of protected endangered species in the province, continue to yield positive results, says police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

This after two suspects were arrested following a tip-off from the community about two suspects residing in Mhinga Village, outside Malamulele, who were allegedly spotted in possession of a Pangolin.
“Police followed the duo until they were found driving along the R40 road between Phalaborwa and Mica. The suspects were pulled off the road, their motor vehicle was searched and a dead pangolin was found hidden inside. The suspects, both 40-years-old, were immediately arrested for being in possession of protected endangered species,” he explained.
Police in Limpopo are concerned about prevalent incidents of illegal hunting, especially that of protected endangered species. The suspects will appear before the Phalaborwa magistrate court soon.
