#WFD – Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

Take Sunday lunch/dinner to a new level with this delicious recipe

POLOKWANE – Yorkshire pudding is a common English side dish consisting of a baked pudding made from batter consisting of eggs, flour, and milk or water.

It is a versatile food that can be served in numerous ways depending on the choice of ingredients, the size of the pudding and the accompanying components of the dish.

This is a great dish to get the family around the table for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

– 2kg roast beef
– olive oil
– Robertsons Masterblends for Braai Zesty Lemon and Herb
– Yorkshire Pudding:
– 4 eggs
– 500ml milk
– 500ml flour
– salt, (a pinch)
– 1 x KNORR Roast Meat Gravy packet

Method

– Rub the beef all over with the olive oil and then with theRobertsons Master Blend Zesty Lemon and Herb.
– Put a heavy-based roasting tray on the hob and, when hot, add the beef, searing on all sides.
– Place in an oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius. Reduce the heat to 190 degrees Celsius and roast for 20 – 30 minutes more, depending on the size of the roast and how well done you want it.
– Remove the beef from the oven, transfer to a carving board and cover with foil. Allow to rest in a warm place for 30 minutes.
– Yorkshire puddings: Beat the eggs and the milk together. Mix in the flour and salt, stirring constantly, until you have a runny batter. Leave to rest for at least 30 minutes.
– Place a tablespoon of oil in the holes of two 12-hole muffin trays. Place the trays in an oven at 200 degrees Celsius until the oil is very hot, about three-four minutes.
– Remove the muffin trays from the oven, pour the batter evenly into the muffin holes and immediately return to the oven. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown and crispy, making sure not to open the oven door for the first 20 minutes. Serve immediately with the carved roast beef.
– In a jug, prepare the Roast Meat Gravy – following the packet instructions carefully. Mix in the pan juices and serve.
