Bird lovers invited to 4th budgie spectacle in Polokwane

The city will be treated with a special showing of budgies on Saturday 23 February.

POLOKWANE – The show will be held in the Laerskool Pietersburg Noord primary hostel and promises to be something for the eye. It is the fourth time that the show will be held in the city.

Budgie breeders will be coming from all over Limpopo to have their birds judged by well-known budgie show judges Tom Linch and Johan Lucas. 71 show birds and 54 wild type birds have been entered and will be judged on their color among other attributes.

Johan Lucas, The Association for Wild-Type and Exhibition Budgies of South Africa(AWEBSA) Chairperson, will not only judge the different birds but will also be available to give breeders pointers on breeding and budgie showing.

The entry will be free and people interested can enter at the gate next to the school in Biccard Street. The show will start from 09:00 till 16:00.

One of the organaisers of the show Dries van Wyk told Review that people are in for a treat and that he would like to invite people from all over the city to come and have a look at the birds and find out more about this growing sport.
