Six suspects arrested for robbery during parallel police operations in Burgersfort and Modimolle

The suspects were arrested during crime intelligence-driven operations focused on fighting crime in the province especially trio crimes.

LIMPOPO – Six suspects aged between 21 and 40 were nabbed for business robberies and possession of suspected stolen properties during two parallel sting joint operations in the Modimolle and Burgersfort Clusters.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspects were arrested during crime intelligence-driven operations focused on fighting crime in the province especially trio crimes.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has complemented these Teams of operational members for the outstanding service rendered during these operations.

In the Burgersfort Cluster, four suspects, aged between 27 and 40, were arrested during the operation which composed of the Burgersfort Cluster Crime Intelligence, the Burgersfort K9 Unit and the Tubatse Detectives conducted in the Mahlakwena, Tukakgomo, Mampuru and Tafelkop areas.

“The arrested suspects were linked to a number of business robberies in different businesses within the Burgersfort Cluster,” Ngoepe said.

During this operation, one hunting rifle and a VW Polo were recovered.

Meanwhile, in the Modimolle Cluster, two suspects, aged 21 and 31, were arrested during an intelligence-driven  joint operation composed of the Saps Modimolle in partnership with the Modimolle Community Police Forum, the Bela-Bela Community Police Forum, the Makanyane Anti-Poaching Unit and the Farmers.

“The suspects were found in possession of suspected stolen properties near Naboomspruit CBD and were arrested. During the arrest, a cellphone was recovered. These suspects were also linked to a series of serious crimes in the area,” Ngoepe added.

All these arrested suspects will appear before various Magistrate Courts soon.

The origin of all the recovered items including the motor vehicle is still being determined by the ongoing Police investigations, Ngoepe concluded.
