Mokopane water: no need for panic

After allegations that the water in Mokopane might have been contaminated, the local municipality has confirmed that no traces of E.coli had been found during testing.

MOKOPANE – “We received a preliminary report from the laboratory which would indicate the presence of viruses in the water. From the report, no E. coli was found in the samples provided. It would assist if we know the exact point of consumption,” the statement reads.

Yolande Coetzee, DA Ward Councillor said they were relieved the hear the water is safe for consumption.

“Luckily, the bulk water team tests the water in town bi-weekly, so if there was any suspicion they would have noticed it. We are just sorry that the residents got this scare, but it is always good to be vigilant.”
