“Although we cannot police people about what they should or should not do with their bodies, my first tip for somebody who wants to dye their hair would be to select a colour that compliments your skin tone. No matter how brave you are , take such things into consideration when you choose a hair colour, also look at your profession, does it allow you to play around with colour, will you still be taken seriously?” he said.

Another tip he gave is that it’s important to deep condition the hair at least two days before the actual dye to allow it to set. If you are dying your hair at home, stay away from dramatic colours to avoid disappointment. He added that the blonde shades are particularly difficult to get right, especially when you are going from a dark shade hair colour.

“With blondes and other light shades, it is safe to go to a professional because the chances of getting it wrong are higher than with darker shades,” he explained. This is also the case if you recently relaxed your hair, the hair is much more sensitive and requires extra attention to detail.

When experimenting with colour, he also shared that it is best to start with semi-permanent or temporary dye. If you are going for a natural dye, henna is the perfect alternative. He also added that when dying hair, one should not be stingy with the dye. ” Longer hair requires more dye, it’s straightforward. Skimping on dye and leave you with undesirable results,” he said.
