[WATCH] ‘Giving blood is not that bad’, says first time donor

First time donor, Nelly Letsoalo, finally gathered enough courage to donate blood and spoke to Review about her experience.

POLOKWANE – Nelly is a Gr 11 learners at PEPPS and has recently joined the SANBS Peer Promoter team at her school, where they encourage and educate their fellow peers on the importance and benefits of donating blood.

“I always though it was painful and draining to have needles pierced on your skin and blood drawn, but after watching several of my peers doing it last year and this year I finally gathered enough courage and strength to actually do it, for the first time. I am anxious and excited at the same time. I know this deed will go a long way and I am doing it to help save lives and make a difference in the community,” she said.

She also said that she wants to encourage her peers who fear donating to do it, as donating blood is not only benefiting the beneficiaries but the donor as well.
