Catch DJ Bambo and friends this weekend at the Sweetphops Lifestyle Centre

In honour of National Disability Awareness month DJ Bambo (Wheelie DJ) and friends will be performing at a charity party in Polokwane this weekend in the hopes of raising money to buy wheel-chairs and utilities for disabled in Moletjie.

POLOKWANE – Seshego born, Solomon Ramauka known as DJ Bambo, is a club disc jokey, entertainer and a community activist with a passion for arts and culture. After an accident in 2017 left him wheel-chair bound he chose not to give up but to help others through creating awareness about disability.

“In 2017, I had an accident which left me on a wheelchair but rather than giving up, I took it upon myself to train myself to be able to continue doing what I love without letting my disability halt my dreams. Usually people who are wheelchair bound, like myself are expected to seek help and beg for certain things for survival, I told myself that I will not be a part of such statistics because my mind is still able to function properly and I have not lost my talent and my abilities to do what I love the most. Being on a wheelchair has made me realise that my disability is a new chapter for greatest journey,” he explained.

With a strong personality and firm character, DJ Bambo is now involved with an organisation of entrepreneurs with disability to help fellow disabled residents regain their confidence and identify business opportunities. Through this organisation, DJ Bambo, says he’s playing his part in giving back to the community by educating people about disability, including how people with disability should be treated. He speaks passionately about changing stereotypes and myths about people with disability in black communities. He has been hosting charity gigs where he involves his friends in the music industry where he raises money in different areas within the Limpopo province and then buys brand new custom designed wheelchairs and donates them in each area specifically.

His next charity gig will be hosted on 3 November at Sweetpops Lifestyle Centre from 15:00 and he urges residents to join him in his quest to change and better the lives on those who are wheelchair bound.

For more information he can be contacted on 079 105 8950.

More about DJ Bambo

DJ Bambo learned the art of spinning as a young township teenager in 1997, when House music and Kwaito were popular music genres in South Africa. He says his journey was however not as smooth as he had anticipated due to lack of opportunity and he and friends got together and started creating their own opportunity through hosting their own events. DJ Bambo has since worked for Coca Cola as an Events Team Leader(2010-201 6) travelling the country organising and managing events. It was through this opportunity that he had a chance to broaden his contacts in the industry and forge new relationships whilst inspiring young people in the townships. In 2012 DJ Bambo landed a feature with Limpopo first Commercial radio stations Capricorn Fm as a Presenter and Mix DJ(2012-2014).
